Getting to the Elementarium

You will find the Museum of West Lusatia Kamenz’s permanent collection and temporary exhibitions in the Elementarium. The Elementarium also houses the museum’s library, shop and café. The Elementarium is situated in the Ponickauhaus in the centre of Kamenz, close to the market square (Kamenzer Markt). You will recognise it easily from its yellow baroque facade.

Getting to Kamenz

The museum is located about a ten-minute walk from the railway station in Kamenz’s historical town centre. It is easy to get there by bus or train from Dresden and the Lusatia region.

Not only does the ecumenical pilgrimage route along the "Via Regia", a medieval trade route, pass through Kamenz, the town is also a worthwhile destination for a day trip by bike. Some of the tourist cycle routes that lead to or through Kamenz include the following:

  • Krabat cycle route
  • Sächsische Städteroute (a route taking in Saxony’s cities and towns)
  • Archaeological sites
  • Frog cycle route

Motorway:
A4 - Exit at Burkau via Elstra when coming from Dresden
A4 - Exit at Uhyst via Panschwitz-Kuckau when coming from Görlitz
A13 - Exit at Ruhland via Bernsdorf when coming from Berlin.

We recommend the following car parks:

Parkplatz am Damm (two minutes by foot)
Parkhaus am Lessingmuseum (five minutes by foot)
Parking options around the train station (10 minutes by foot)
