The Elementarium exhibitions

Discover, touch and try things out is our motto at Museum of West Lusatia Kamenz. The Elementarium’s seven theme-based worlds invite visitors to experience the history of the Lusatia region from its very beginnings. In the Elementarium, you can embark on an expedition through its seven theme-based worlds and explore the traces of Earth’s two most significant landscape creators - nature and man. Each of the seven theme-based worlds presents our environment from a different perspective; they are all interlinked and designed to be interactive. This enables visitors to explore and experience the connections for themselves. Each year, a different special exhibition focuses on presenting the results of scientifically based research in a vibrant and comprehensible way.

Information for Visitors

You will find the Museum of West Lusatia Kamenz’s permanent collection and temporary exhibitions in the Elementarium. The Elementarium also houses the museum’s library, shop and café. The Elementarium is situated in the Ponickauhaus in the centre of Kamenz.

Sammelsurium – Research centre and display repository

Many visitors associate the museum with magnificent exhibits that are beautifully arranged - some of which are behind glass, but some they can actually touch. Only a small part of the collection is on display in the exhibitions, however. Where are all the other treasures that are not on display kept hidden? More than 30,000 objects from West Lusatia are conserved and made available for research in the areas devoted to archaeology and cultural history, geology, zoology and biology.
